It is estimated that about £500 million has been spent on public space CCTV since 1999. Between 1999 and 2003 the
Government invested £170 million. This capital investment has had to be sustained mainly by Local Authorities who face
serious issues of supporting ongoing revenue funding. It is reasonable to expect a return on this investment, as will businesses
who have also invested heavily in this technology. Sadly many systems are 'underperforming' and in some cases
could be removed without any noticeable impact.
The approach needs to be strategic with all Partners engaged
for common agreed purposes and objectives. The National CCTV Strategy makes some 44 recommendations as to how some existing
gaps can be filled.
Here at Geoff Ball Imaging we can assist in creating such strategies based on scheme specific
requirements. We will agree aims and objectives and following detailed consultations with stakeholders identify strengths
and weaknesses and the way forward to improving outcomes and driving down costs.
